Halal food and heritage
Kashmir is a Muslim-majority region, so food is halal everywhere, from street kebabs to the famous wazwan feast. Hazratbal Shrine, Jamia Masjid and the Khanqah-e-Moula are among the most beautiful places of worship in South Asia, and the call to prayer echoes across Dal Lake.
Best time to visit Kashmir
March to May brings tulips and spring blossom, and June to August is pleasant for the valleys and Sonamarg. September to November is famous for golden chinar trees. December to February is snow season, best for Gulmarg and skiing.

Questions
Kashmir holiday questions
Do we need a passport or permit for Kashmir?
No. Kashmir is in India, so a government photo ID such as Aadhaar is enough. No visa or special permit is needed for the usual tourist places.
Is there a direct flight from Hyderabad to Srinagar?
There are direct flights on some days, and many one-stop options via Delhi, for a journey of about 3 to 5 hours.
When can we see snow?
December to February is the main snow season in Gulmarg and Sonamarg. Gulmarg’s upper gondola phase often has snow until April or May.
Is Kashmir good for elderly parents?
Yes, with planning. We choose comfortable hotels and houseboats, private cars and a relaxed pace, and pony rides are available for walks in the valleys.
Is Kashmir good for a honeymoon?
It is one of India’s most popular honeymoon destinations. Choose the Premium or Honeymoon package for a luxury houseboat, a private shikara ride and a mountain-view hotel.
