A Muslim country
The Maldives is a Muslim country, so food is halal and every inhabited island has a mosque. Local islands are alcohol-free and follow a modest dress code, while resort islands are private and relaxed. Many families combine a few nights on a local island with a resort stay.
Best time to visit Maldives
November to April is the dry season, with calm seas, sunshine and the best snorkelling, and the highest prices around Christmas and New Year. May to October brings some rain and wind, but resorts are much cheaper and the sea stays warm.

Questions
Maldives holiday questions
Do Indians need a visa for the Maldives?
No visa is needed in advance. Indian passport holders get a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival, with a confirmed return ticket and hotel booking. You also fill in the online Traveller Declaration before flying.
Local island or resort: which is better?
Local islands are budget-friendly, alcohol-free and close to Maldivian life. Resorts offer privacy, water villas and all-inclusive dining. Many families split their stay between both.
Speedboat or seaplane transfer?
It depends on the island. Resorts near Malé use speedboats; distant atolls need a seaplane, which is a highlight in itself but costs more. The transfer is included in each package price.
Is the Maldives good for a honeymoon?
It is one of the best. Choose the Premium or Honeymoon package for a water villa, a candlelit dinner on the beach and a private sandbank trip.
What meal plan should we choose?
Resort meals are expensive, so half board or full board usually saves money. On local islands, breakfast only is fine because cafés are affordable.
