Top experiences

The best of Uzbekistan

  • Registan Square in Samarkand, lit up at night
  • Mausoleum of Imam al-Bukhari near Samarkand
  • Shah-i-Zinda and the Bibi-Khanym Mosque
  • Hazrati Imam complex in Tashkent, home of the Uthman Quran
  • Poi Kalyan minaret and Lyab-i Hauz in Bukhara
  • Bahauddin Naqshband complex in Bukhara
  • High-speed Afrosiyob train between the cities
  • Khiva’s walled old town, as an extension

A Muslim-majority country

Islam is the main religion of Uzbekistan, and halal food is everywhere. The country holds some of the most important sites in Islamic history: Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Maturidi, Bahauddin Naqshband and the Uthman Quran. We plan prayer stops into every day.

Best time to visit Uzbekistan

April to June and September to October are the most pleasant, with mild days for walking the old cities. July and August are very hot, often above 40°C. Winter is cold but quiet, with the lowest prices.

Questions

Uzbekistan holiday questions

Do Indians need a visa for Uzbekistan?

Yes, but it is simple. Indian passport holders apply for an Uzbekistan e-Visa online, usually issued within a few working days. Our visa desk applies for you.

Can we visit the mausoleum of Imam al-Bukhari?

Yes. The ziyarat near Samarkand is part of every Uzbekistan package, with time for prayer.

How do we travel between the cities?

By the high-speed Afrosiyob train, which links Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara in two to four hours each way. Train tickets are included.

Is Uzbekistan good for elderly parents?

Yes, with the right pace. The old cities are flat and walkable, and we keep walking short, choose central hotels and can arrange private cars.

How many days are enough?

Six or seven nights covers Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara comfortably. Add two nights for Khiva.
