Important China visa rules
- Submit the physical passport only after the online review shows “Passport to be submitted”.
- Photos must be 33 x 48 mm; standard 35 x 45 mm photos are rejected.
- Apply 4 to 6 weeks before travel. Applications by post are not accepted.
- The reduced fee for Indians applies until 31 December 2026.

How long does a China visa take?
About 4 working days after the passport is submitted, plus the online review time. Apply 4 to 6 weeks ahead.
Do I need to give fingerprints?
Not for tourist and business visas of up to 180 days, under the current temporary exemption. Work, study and family reunion visas still need fingerprints.
What photo size is needed for a China visa?
