What Is an Azad Visa for Saudi Arabia?
“Azad visa” is a common name for a Saudi employment visa that comes with a transfer NOC from the sponsor. In other words, it is a normal employment visa.
The worker travels on that visa and then looks for a suitable job. Later, the worker moves to the new employer through the official transfer process.

Changing employer in Saudi Arabia
Can an expatriate worker change employer in Saudi Arabia?
Yes. Saudi Arabia’s Labor Reform Initiative has been in force since 14 March 2021. Under it, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) allows expatriate workers to move to a new employer. The new employer starts the transfer by sending a job offer through the Qiwa platform.
Can I change employer without my current employer’s consent?
Yes, in two cases set by HRSD. First, when your attested employment contract has expired. Second, after 12 months from your date of entry, if you give your current employer at least 90 days’ notice.
Can I change jobs during my first year in Saudi Arabia?
Yes, but only with your current employer’s approval. Without it, you must meet the HRSD conditions above.
When can a transfer happen without approval in special cases?
HRSD lists cases such as no registered contract within 3 months of entry, or no salary for 3 consecutive months. Others include an absent employer, an expired work permit or residence, and an employer who misses labour dispute hearings.

What is an Azad visa for Saudi Arabia?

Can I work on a visit, tourist, business or Umrah visa?
No. Working in Saudi Arabia requires an employment visa and a valid work permit. Visit, tourist, business and Umrah visas do not allow employment.
What does the employment contract need?
HRSD requires a duly attested employment contract, registered electronically. Transfers and other labour services check this contract on the Qiwa platform.
Travel, offices and official portals
Do I need my employer’s permission to travel home?
Under the reform, most expatriate workers can apply for an exit and re-entry visa themselves through the Absher platform. The employer is notified. However, this does not apply to domestic workers.
Is there a Saudi consulate in Hyderabad?

Which official Saudi portals are used for work visas?
Qiwa handles employment contracts and job transfers. Absher handles residency and exit re-entry. In addition, Wafid is used for the pre-departure medical, and the PACC programmes handle skills tests and certificate checks.
